Tadalafil, the generic name for Cialis, works in the same way as a “ phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor” (also known as a “blocker”). It works by helping the active ingredient in Cialis (a drug that works in the body’s blood vessels and nerves) to have an effect on the body’s natural signals. This allows the body to control the amount of Cialis, making it easier to take the drug.
As with any medication, there’s a risk of side effects. Common side effects include:

A Canadian pharmacy that sells the generic version of Tadalafil, Cialis, is offering a discount on the purchase of the popular erectile dysfunction drug.
In a recent survey conducted at the Canadian Pharmacy Association's online pharmacy in Toronto, Health Canada and the Health Canada Pharmacy Association (HAPA), a leading pharmacy chain, found that the price of Tadalafil Cialis for men is lower than that of the generic version of Cialis, Cialis Professional. The price is $3.99 per month, compared to the price of the generic Cialis.
"It's not just about being able to afford the brand name. We're also working with the Canadian Pharmacy Association to help guide them on the way down to where they can see the real value in this," says Pharmacist David O'Donovan, vice president of pharmacy services at HAPA.
O'Donovan says that, while the cost may seem steep, the company's "bigger, stronger" label and higher price tag are not likely to change the pricing of the drug in Canada. O'Donovan says that while he is not yet a doctor, the brand-name Tadalafil Cialis is not for use in the United States, and he is confident that HAPA will take a hard hit.
"The biggest thing is that we don't have any generic Tadalafil," says O'Donovan. "We have the brand name, the Cialis Professional, and the generic Tadalafil. And that's the first thing that we'll do with all these options."
But O'Donovan says that HAPA is in talks with the Canadian pharmacy to help determine how they will be able to provide Cialis at a more affordable price.
"We really want to work with HAPA and to help them get the brand name, the Cialis Professional, and the generic Tadalafil," he says.
